Janjgir is a historic town that is located in the state of Chhattisgarh in the district of Janjgir –Champa. It is an old town and there are records dating back to the 11th century about the place. The culture of the town is a curious mix of tribal and modern culture. One can witness many unique dances and festivals in the town of Janjgir. There are a few historical temples and monuments that are worth visiting in the town. The main attractions of the town are the temples and some of them are the Vishnu Temple and the Pithampur Shiv Mandir. The Vishnu Temple was built during the 12th century and still stands relatively intact and this is a testament to the architectural skill of the builders of that period.
The Kaleshwamnath Temple is located along the banks of the Hasdeo River and one can see a ten day festival being celebrated in the place. This is a good time to visit as the area is colorful and one can witness the local culture. Chandrahasini Devi Temple is also another interesting place that one can visit. Many devotees can be seen in this place. Dewarghata is a popular picnic spot in the region as well.
