Jamshedpur, an important city in the state of Jharkhand in India, was established by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. Acclaimed as first planned city in India, it is a major tourist location and a gateway to the tourists and pilgrims to the Himalayan ranges. As it is the home for the TATA group of industries, especially Tata Steel. The city is also known as Tatanagar. It was Lord Chelmsford in 1919 named the city as Jamshedpur to honor Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata.

Jamshedpur, nicknamed as steel city, is a thriving industrial city with major industries including that of iron and steel, tin plate production, cement production and truck manufacturing. This city also hosts many medium and small scale industries.

The city is enriched by many mineral resources, consisting of coal, iron ore, lime, manganese and bauxite. Jamshedpur is famed as the city having the highest per capita income in India and has been credited with the first integrated iron and steel factory founded by Jamshedji Tataa in 1908. XLRI, India’s premier business school, is located the heart of Jamshedpur city.

Jamshedpur is located at Chota Nagpur Plateau and is surrounded by lush green forests of Dalma Hills. The city is bordered by the famous rivers Kharkai and Subarnrekha. The banks of these rivers offer the fertile fields and are vibrant with the natural beauties.

Jamshedpur is renowned for its dedicated efforts in reforestation and pollution control. It is placed as one of the lusting green cities in India and even with the presence of many industries; the air purity in the city is significantly high. Many tourist and religious attractions are there in and around the city. They include Tata Zoological Park, TELCO Bhuwaneswari Temple, Jayanti Sarowar, Jubilee Park and Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

sundar kumar Daily Direct train is there from chennai to jamshedpur train name: dhanbad express.It starts from chennai at 10.35p.m and reaches jamshedpur after 35 hours travelling.
