Jamshedpur, nicknamed as steel city, is a thriving industrial city with major industries including that of iron and steel, tin plate production, cement production and truck manufacturing. This city also hosts many medium and small scale industries.

Jamshedpur is famed as the city having the highest per capita income in India and has been credited with the first integrated iron and steel factory founded by Jamshedji Tataa in 1908.
