A fabulous building, which displays Indo-Saracen style of architecture, Albert Hall is a prototype of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Colonel Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob had designed Albert museum and Edward VII laid its foundation stone in the year 1876. Situated in the midst of the verdant Ram Niwas Garden, The Albert Hall elegantly portraits the colourful village life of Rajasthan. It boasts of the rich cultural and historic heritage of the entire state. Valiant history of the Rajputs took a considerable part of the specimens of the Museum.
The museum now exhibits delicate assortment of metal ware, miniature portraits, decorative wares paintings, sculptures, an Egyptian mummy and natural history samplings among various other artifacts. The Durbar Hall is filled with numerous dazzling carpets including the outstanding Persian Garden Carpet, which is not exhibited for the public. Sculptures that are on display dates back to second, eighth and eighteenth century among which the turbaned lady and a stone Shiva are noteworthy. A horse skeleton, a stuffed cobra and a human skeleton also found in the Museum adds a special charm to its elegance. This museum plays as a host to many cultural feasts to prop up cultural events. Public are admitted to the Museum on all days except on Fridays between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The Pink City is placed within the boundaries of a hefty wall and every bazaars and streets are facing either east to west or north to south. There are only three entry gates in the wall, which are placed at eastern, western, and northern directions. Chand Pol or the Moon gate is the entry gate located in the western portion of the wall. The gates used to be blocked at dusk and open at dawn. Chand Pol poses as a majestic entry point that leads one to the elephant station and also to a cluster of ancient shrines and palaces.

The vast palace complex occupies one-seventh area of Jaipur. Originally constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II, alterations have been done to it by many of his descendants. One among the remarkable constituents of the City Palace, Chandra Mahal is the place where the present Maharaja of Jaipur resides.
A seven-storied citadel, Chandra Mahal houses the superb scenery of the sprawling city and verdant gardens. This palace exhibits, lovely floral decorations, marvelous paintings, mirrored walls and highly decorated ceilings. Each floor displays the royal elegance, has got a distinct name and is a place of sheer beauty and luxury. The ground and first floor of the Chandra Mahal form the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum while the third floor holds the dining and the drawing room. The fourth floor exhibits mirror walls where the king can enjoy the glittering if light in the dark. The fifth floor is the Maharaja's retreat in the rainy season, and in the sixth floor one can enjoy the wonderful view of the jagged hills. The seventh floor of Chandra Mahal is called as the crown of the building. The Shobha Nivas and the Sukh Nivas is still occupied by the present Maharaja.

An eighteenth century monument, Diwan-e-Am is built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. This is popularly called as the Diwan Khana or the Hall of Public Audience. It was the place where the king used to hear and decide the grievances of his people. Characteristic features of this hall are the Durbars, Jalis and banquets. Jalis are that portion of the hall from where the royal ladies clad in Purdah watched the proceedings in the Durbar.
Diwan-e-Am has been functioning as a museum for a long and it displays carriages and howdahs for elephant and camelback rides, portraits of the royal family of Jaipur, carpets from the royal household. Among the marvels of this exquisite hall, chandeliers adorn the prime position. It is considered as the largest one in India. Indian and Persian miniature paintings embellish the picture gallery along with the wide compilation of manuscripts. Though this stunning reminiscent of Rajput tradition is a paradigm of the Mughal capitals of Agra and Delhi, its basic design is absolutely rooted in the rich structural design of the erstwhile Hindu kingdoms. A holy shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna, Govind Dev Ji Temple is located in the City Palace complex. Since it is situated in the palace complex this temple is under the direct control of the royal family.
Most popular temple in the city, this temple is constructed in 18th century. This temple was formerly a palace and it is heard that this was transformed in to a temple by the then ruler of Jaipur. Now, Govind Dev is the guardian deity of the Royal Family. Since a former palace, it’s interior’s boasts breath taking beauty with marvelous decorations.
It is believed that the image of the deity is brought from Vrindavan and Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh installed the idol here. Daily poojas includes aarties, which are conducted seven times a day. The temple premises witness large gathering during the Janmashtami festival.

One of the most imposing structures in Jaipur, Hawa Mahal is built in the year 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh. This beautiful monument was the structural design of the eminent artist Lalchand Usta. A five storied structure, Hawa Mahal, is a huge tapering composition with frequent arches, small windows, spires and trellised casements in spite of its lofty formations, the Hawa Mahal appears like a light, roomy structure which might puff away by a gentle breeze.
Hawa Mahal is part and parcel of the ladies quarters and it might be a gallery for the royal ladies to watch the proceedings around them. The airy interiors of Hawa Mahal pose a cooling atmosphere where the royal ladies can sit comfortably and watch everything whilst remaining veiled. Placed beautifully in the midst of the busy Johari Bazaar, Hawa Mahal reminds the vivid history of Jaipur. Built up of red sand stones, this magical structure, which is otherwise called the palace of winds differs from any other monuments one could see in the Pink City.
Except on Fridays, public are admitted to the Hawa Mahal and the visiting time is fixed at 10 am to 5.30 pm. On Mondays admission to Hawa Mahal is free.

Situated on the majestic Chilh-ka-Tola or the hill of eagles, the lofty walls of the Jaigarh Fort spread over a vast expansion of three kilometers. This impregnable fort of the Rajput was built purely for the defense activities. Doongar darwaza and Awani darwaza are the entry points to this mighty fortress. What makes this elegant fort so famous is its huge canon, which is believed to be the largest one of its kind in the world. Ironically this was not used for a single time in the long history of the fort.
Other conspicuous structures of the fort encompasses Diya Burj,Vijay Garh and the palace complex. Divya Burj is a seven-storied formation, which commands the pictorial view of the whole city. Vijay Garh is the vast armory section where one can have a glimpse of the arms and ammunitions of the Rajputs. The palace complex is also a worthy to watch spectacle with its exquisite architecture. An observatory constructed in mid way between the years 1728 and 1734, Jantar Mantar is placed adjacent to the city palace. Literally this term means instruments and formula. Maharaja Jai Singh II was the progressive spirit behind this observatory, which has the accolade of being the largest stone observatory in the world. Historians are of the opinion that, Maharaja Jai Singh took long seven years to complete the construction of this observatory.
Renowned for the solid geometrical statuette, this observatory house fourteen major solid and fixed geometric instruments, which are used for tracing the stars and their orbits. Besides this, Jantar Mantar observatory helps to determine the time of eclipses, find out the altitudes along with computing time. A well-preserved monument, Jantar Mantar has been declared as a national monument in the year 1948.

Monti Doongri palace is built in the style of a Scottish castle and its peculiar architecture is worth mentioning.
Since this is a private property of the royal family public are not allowed to go inside the palace. Monti Doongri palace was used to be the venue of great parties during the time of Sawai Man Singh II. Constructed by Sawai Jaya Singh, Nahargarh Fort houses a mysterious tale with it. Its massive walls and bastions still hold the royal elegance, though much of it was not able to with stood the ramification of time. A tedious but delightful trek of two kilometers will fetch one on the uphill from where one can watch the fabulous view of the entire city.
Later in the year 1880 Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh altered Nahargarh into a pleasure palace with gorgeous interiors of stucco designs and murals. The palace exhibits an amalgamation of Indian and European architecture. The palace was so designed that each of the nine wives of the King was given a two-storied apartment. It is interesting to see that the king can join any of the queens with out the knowledge of others. Nahargarh Fort can be visited from 10 am in the morning to 4.30 pm in the evening.

Dedicated to Goddess Kali, Shila Devi temple is placed in the Amber Fort complex. It is believed that the image of the deity is brought from Jessore in East Bengal by Raja Man Singh. This large white marble temple houses a black idol of the goddess Kali, which is in contrast to the white colour of the sanctum. Kali temple stood at the entry point of the majestic Amber fort as a proud protector.
This temple holds an interesting folklore, which says that the goddess had appeared to Man Singh in his dreams and asked him to take the idol from the sea. Since Man Singh was a great devotee of kali, he had done what he was told to do. The temple premises also hold nine similes of Goddess Durga and ten embodiments of Goddess Saraswati, which are imprinted on the silver gates of the temple. Other prominent deity in this temple is Lord Ganesha.

Among the various parks in Jaipur, Zoological Garden is regarded as one among the best sanctuaries in Jaipur. It is also called as the Jaipur Zoo.
Jaipur Zoo is located in the vibrancy of the lustrous Ram Niwas garden. A zoo in the midst of magnificient floral arcades and verdant landscapes, proffers an enthralling scenario to the spectator. Famed as the best crocodile-breeding center in India, the zoological park is a hub of exotic varieties of flora and Fauna. It is a natural asylum for so many endangered species of both the animal and plant kingdom. The bird flock in the zoo is a special wing that arrests the vision of the tourists.
Jaipur Zoo with its museum, greenhouse, an aviary, a herbarium, and the sports ground offers a perfect holidaying for those who like to be in the lap of a beautiful ambiance. The zoo is working all the days of a week except on Tuesday and the time schedule is fixed at 8:30 am to 5:30 pm in summers and 9 am to 5 pm in winters.
