Govind Devji Temple

A holy shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna, Govind Dev Ji Temple is located in the City Palace complex. Since it is situated in the palace complex this temple is under the direct control of the royal family.

Most popular temple in the city, this temple is constructed in 18th century. This temple was formerly a palace and it is heard that this was transformed in to a temple by the then ruler of Jaipur. Now, Govind Dev is the guardian deity of the Royal Family. Since a former palace, it’s interior’s boasts breath taking beauty with marvelous decorations.

It is believed that the image of the deity is brought from Vrindavan and Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh installed the idol here. Daily poojas includes aarties, which are conducted seven times a day. The temple premises witness large gathering during the Janmashtami festival.
