An open courtyard of private audience, the gateway to this majestic place itself houses a royal ambiance. With lofty brass and wooden doors, Diwan-e-Khas is put up on elevated pillars. This magnificient monument reveals the harmonious synthesis of Mugal and Rajasthan style structural design. Its vaulted edifices are synonymous with the doomed palaces of the Mugal Emperors.
Though this stunning reminiscent of Rajput tradition is a paradigm of the Mughal capitals of Agra and Delhi, its basic design is absolutely rooted in the rich structural design of the erstwhile Hindu kingdoms. Flat-roofed pavilions of Diwan-e-Khas reminds of a period, which predates the Mughals. This exquisite court also houses two huge silver water jars that were used to carry water from the Ganges for purification and daily prayers. Its hefty size earned it the prestigious accolade and entry in the Guinness Book of world records.
