Best Season / Best time to visit Idukki

Many geographical and topographical characteristics are unique to Idukki. The weather is very mild and the temperature is usually very low. However, during the summer months from March to May the temperature may rise to about 25 to 30 degrees. A major part of the region has cold climate and temperature ranges from 15 to 20 degrees. In summer months the humidity could be a factor in some parts. The climate also changes when one travels from the west towards the east. The eastern parts may be warmer.

The summer months will be pleasant due to the hilly nature of the district, however one can expect a high amount of rainfall. The hill stations such as Munnar, which are about 5000 feet above sea level, have a very pleasant climate during the summer and temperatures rarely go above 18 degrees.

The winter season is very cold and it might be advisable to carry woolen clothes and appropriate winter wear. In the hill stations, the temperature might drop to around 0 degrees during the winter months. The tourists might also find it worth the effort to carry an umbrella or raincoats as there is a constant threat of rain.
