Gulmarg is a city that rests high on the slopes of the Himalayas in the state of Kashmir. Having been credited with having one of the world’s highest cable car facilities, Gulmarg attracts a lot of tourists. However, given its location, there aren’t too many options pertaining to accommodation when compared to other tourist haunts in the country.
Gulmarg hotels come under only two categories, that is, budget and luxury. There are a few budget hotels in Gulmarg that charge between Rs 600 to Rs 1,200 per day. A couple of star hotels that charge around Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 a day can also be found in Gulmarg.
There are also other luxury hotels that charge roughly around the same range or higher. For people with extravagant tastes, there are a couple of resorts that may charge between Rs 3,500 and Rs 5,500 a day. One can also find some lounges where live music and DJ nights are conducted occasionally during the winters.
The general weather in Gulmarg is cold throughout the year and hence air conditioned rooms are not required. However, heaters may be required during the winters as temperatures can hit rock bottom. Generally the hotels are concentrated around the Gondola area.
