Durgapur Steel Plant

Durgapur is known outside basically due to Durgapur Steel Plant. It is one of the integrated steel plants of Steel Authority of India Limited. Durgapur Steel Plant was a showpiece of Indo-British cooperation in independent India.

The steel plant is an extra brilliant piece of design and construction. It is one awesome thing to see in Durgapur. It is hard to imagine the scale of things that happen and lets you wonder how the heck all of this works together.

This is one of highly profit making steel plant. Thousands of people are employed here directly or indirectly. There is an attractive statue of epic hero Arjun inside the entrance gate of Durgapur Steel Plant.

One need a permit to visit - easily obtained from the Administrative building at the main entrance of the plant during the working days.
