Mindrolling, which means "Place of Perfect Emancipation" in Tibetan language, is a renowned monastery of the Nyingma sect. Rigzin Tendak Lingpa established it in 1676. This monastery witnessed numerous attacks and natural calamities and its present structure is the contribution of Khochhen Rinpoche. Mindrolling Monastery is one of the largest Buddhist Viharas in India, which exhibits architectural marvel.
A center of excellence, this monastery is dedicated to learn the Buddhist scriptures and other fields of academic interest such as Tibetan lunar calendar, astronomy, Traditional Tibetan medicine and calligraphy. Mindrolling monastery also holds Ngagyur Nyingma College, one of the biggest Buddhist institutions in India. It is astonishing to grasp that this Monastery is imparting training to the upcoming monks and yogis for more than 300 years. The head of this Monastery is accorded a great reverence from the people all over the world who believe in the preaching of Buddha.
