It is believed that the city got its name from a person named Dandelappa who was a servant in the house of the Mirashi landlords. He was very loyal and had in fact lost his life for it. From londa, there are few direct buses to dandeli, or else you can come to Ramnagar from there dandeli, or go to alnavar from there u get buses or route taxi to haliyal from haliyal to dandeli.
