Chopta Valley can be easily reached from Thangu, which is located close to the valley. The drive from Thangu to Chopta Valley will take only forty five minutes, at a maximum. You can also opt for jeeps and buses from the nearby town of Mangan, which is the main town in the district of North Sikkim. Chopta Valley is a popular trekking spot, and travelling to Chopta Valley through the trekking route is also a very good option for adventurous tourists.

The nearest railway station is located in the region of Siliguri, called as New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. This is a broad gauge railway station that is well connected to many other places in the Indian subcontinent through a network of trains. Trains to the railway station in New Jalpaiguri will be available from Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Guwahati and even Jabalpur. A narrow gauge link connecting the hill station Darjeeling with New Jalpaiguri will also be available. Train fares are significantly lesser than bus fares, and fares from the capital city of New Delhi to New Jalpaiguri will cost around Rs 434 for the basic class of travel. Air conditioned coaches will charge fares of around Rs 1164.
