The designation, Venkateshwara, also called the Lord of the Seven Hills and also known as Venkatachala Pathi means Lord of the Venkata Hill, is obtained by the Lord's regime over Venkatachala. The Hindu mythological verses tells that in the Kali Yuga, one can attain moksha, only by worshipping Sri Venkateshwara.

The temple, with three 'Prakarams' or enclosures, contains the 'Dhvajastambha' or the banner pole and the images of Krishnadevaraya, Vijayanagara king and his companions, and also of Todarmal who was the minister of Akbar. The daily program starts at early morning 3 am with ‘Suprabhatam', which means awakening the Lord and ends at midnight with the 'Ekanta Seva' (putting the Lord to sleep). Special Darshan for the Physically Disabled and the Aged are available, due to heavy rush token system is engaged here for Darshan. The most significant festival celebrated in the temple is the Brahmolsavam.

The temple is world-renowned and without any distinction devotes from all over the world visit here to get the blessings of Lord Venkatachalapathi.
