Barathi Memorial Museum, located at Pondicherry Town, was the residence of the great Tamil poet-patriot Subramaniya Bharathi, who arrived Pondicherry in 1908. Subramania Bharati, who lived for a span of 1882 to 1921, was a well-known writer who introduced modernism and distinction in Tamil literature. He has written and has the credit of a number of patriotic and devotional songs. Most of his writings vividly dealt with contemporary social affairs. This Museum displays photographs of the poet, manuscripts, and letters written by him. The museum is open from 09:00-12:30 hrs and 14:00-17:45 hrs on all days except Mondays.
