The Bannerghatta National Park is situated 22 km away from the city. A variety of fauna in the picturesque surroundings of the park can be seen. It is a reserve of lions, Indian tigers and many other mammals. Crocodiles, picnic corner, pets corner and serpentarium with lion’s safari are among the many attractions in the park. The small zoo in the park displays many zoological items.

The country’s first butterfly park was set up in the Bannerghatta National Park on 25th of November 2006. The butterfly park is spread over 7.5 acres of land and constitutes a butterfly conservatory, museum and an audio-visual room. The conservatory is made of polycarbonate roof. The living environment has been so designed that it supports 20 species of butterflies.

September to January is the best time to visit, when one can spot Lions and Tigers while on a safari.

Kavya Urs watching wild animals-great, creating awareness about wildlife-great, but not at the cost of causing animals despair and robbing of their quality of living for which we do not have the rights. Please do not encourage public intrusion to the wild animals' habitat. Reduce the frequency of visiting and number of visitors at a time. Stop commercialization at the cost of discomfort for these poor innocent creatures.

Ramakrishnan Radhika is correct. I have taken very good pictures and taken tigers and lions very close (few feet away from the bus). It is true that the journey is not comparable to the best safari's available.

radhika if you can see the pictures shown above, you will know, at least part of what the above two comments is not right. it is definitely not a waste of time.. it may not compare well with other safaris and zoos, but if you are in bangalore, it is one of the places to visit. more so if you have kids ;o

NAYEEM What ever above mentioned comments are very much true please dont waste your money and time. better than this we spend the time in majestic bus stand. Take rupees 30 for daily bus pass and travel anywhere in bangalore and enjoy.

MALLARAJ The road inside the park is in worst condition where the KARNATAKA STATE TOURISM DEPARTMENT CORPORATION (KSTDC) vehicle carries you inside the park for Grand/Lion/Tiger Safari. The price for the safari is Rs.100/- in weekdays and Rs.125/- in weekends and holidays i.e. for Grand safari which includes the Lion & Tiger safari too. Driver drives the safari vehicle like mud tractors. You can not take good photo of any animals. Nobody guides you during the safari time to see the wild animals. Its all depends on your luck to see the animals. Usually you may see some 2 tigers and 3 lions away more than 400 meter distance. I have seen many zoo and safaris but not worst than this. Simply to say it is just waste of time and money.
