Asansol is a commercial city that is situated in the state of West Bengal, in the Bardhaman district. It is one of the biggest cities in the state and has a well developed infrastructure. There are a few places that you can visit in the city of Asansol and these include parks, religious sites and dams.
Some of the main parks in the city of Asansol are the Nehru Park and the Satabdi Park. The Satabdi Park is a popular place and many families can be seen here in the evenings. You can opt for boating and paddling in the small water body that is present here. Joychandi Pahar is a picnic spot that is present here and this is a good place for a day trip. It is located about 30 kilometers from the town and one can engage in activities such as rock climbing in the area. You can also visit the two dams that are situated near the town and they are the Panchet Dam and Maithon Dam. These are good options for day trips and for sightseeing. Kalyaneshwari Temple is present near the Maithon Dam and is worth visiting as well. Other tourist places include Churulia and Manoj Talkies.
