Located at a distance of 4 km from Ananthagiri of the Araku Valley, Borra Caves is the one of the largest in the country which stands at a height of about 705 m. Borra Caves, also known as Borra Guhalu is well known for its aged stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Discovered in 1807 by William King George, a British geologist, the Caves are basically Karstic limestone which extends to a depth of 262.5 ft. Many things or places can be explored inside the caves. The natural stalactite and stalagmite formations that have taken the shape of lion’s face, Lord Ganesha, Owl and different others are worth mentioning.

Make sure to see the place which was supposed to be used by the Buddhist monks. Small water puddles inside the caves is worth seeing.
