Overview   |   When to go   |   How to reach

Amboli is a less known beautiful hill resort. It is in the southern range of Sahyadri hills, and near Sawantwadi. Amboli is situated at an altitude of 690 m. This is the last mountain recourse - after this the coastal highlands settle to form flat beaches. This hill station is covered with mist during the rainy season. Submersed by thick forests and outrageous valleys, this placid mountaintop extends some of the best bird's-eye views of the Konkan coast.

Amboli was developed as a hill station by a British political agent Colonel Westrop. The Bauxite mines which are 10 km away are a different but pleasant pleasure trip.

More than 50,000 tourists visit this place every year. The rush of tourists starts after Diwali and lasts till the summer season ends. Beautiful waterfalls can be seen here during the rainy season. Summers at Amboli are extremely pleasant and cool.

Amboli is a placid and beautiful hill station. The hill station has plenty to offer. The glorious scenes of the traversing valley and the tree lined sandy decoration of the Konkan coast.

The hill station is a romantic honeymoon destination too. For honeymoon couples, Amboli has all the seclusion and beauty they need. Be it a honeymoon or just a vacation, Amboli is a place which extends a pleasant and freshening change of pace.

For the adventurous kind, an opportunity of a horse ride is also available here.
