A lovely temple at the very source of Narmada River is a delightful place to roam in. As the place holds immense religious significance, its holy premises would be thronged with huge gatherings. Mythology says that the holy river Narmada takes its origin from Lord Shiva and it descended from heaven at Narmada Udgam.

One of the ancient temples that boast of great traditional value Narmada Udgam presents a complex of small shrines in an enclosed space, in which a sacred kund is its spotlight. The evening aarti in Narmada Udgam temple is a refreshing affair with the chanting of vedic hymns in the midst of beating drums and bells. Incenses that are fumed during the rituals make the entire ambiance aromatic. Apart from the regular aartis and prayers the temple has special rituals on Shivaratri and Navaratri festivals. Celebrations in Navaratri is marked with continuous lit of ghee lamps for nine days and that makes the holy ambiance of the temple literally glittering.
