Prettily situated amidst the craggy and jagged rocks, Alwar in the Aravalli region presents a beautiful mix of different traditions. This hilly terrain in the state of Rajasthan possesses a rich history, which dates back to 1500 BC. This rock fringed tiny locale presents a pebbly as well as a verdant landscape. Formerly known as Mewat, Alwar gained as remarkable seat of art and culture under the patronage of Maharaja Pratap Singh. Like all the princely states of that time, this strong hold of the Rajputs also came under the British rule and remained as the same till India got freedom.

Alwar, a city of majestic monuments and panoramic destinations captivates the tourist with its alluring appeal. Palaces in Rajasthan are one of the prime attractions that draws tourists to this state. These palaces of Rajasthan are eloquent of the grandeur and royalty that once resided here.

Travel within city


Alwar is a princely city located in the State of Rajasthan. It has many local attractions including many forts, palaces and monuments and the public transport can be used to cover most of the important place of interest. The Alwar Railway Station is connected to Jaipur and other parts of the state; however it may not have frequent train services to other parts of the country.

Auto


There are autos available from the railway station. They are not very expensive and can the prices can be bargained and many of the drivers speak halting English. They charge around Rs 100 to 150 to reach the main areas of the city. Auto rickshaws generally have special night fares. It may however be difficult to hail an auto during the night.

Bus


Frequent government buses ply to most parts of the city. They are generally crowded and not comfortable. Government buses are cheap and can be hailed at any point. They charge around Rs 10 to 20 to reach from one end of the city to another.

Taxi


Another option is to hire one of the local taxis that are available. Most of them charge around Rs 6 per km for Tata Indica and Rs 9 per km for Toyota Qualis.

I born in Alwar. it is really too pieceful, Facinating city with good people. due to this I am sacrificing good job growth & does not leave this place with no affections..
Good Place to roam in Aravali Hills in Rainy seasons. even after too much hot in summers, it is lovable place.
